SCSU Men’s Hockey Earns Tie With UNO

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team earned a 2-all overtime tie with #19 Nebraska-Omaha Sunday in Omaha to salvage a point in the weekend series after losing on Saturday. Brooks Bertsch and Ben Hanowski each scored a goal for the Huskies and Ryan Faragher had 26 saves for SCSU.

Huskies Upset #1 Gophers 4-3

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team posted their biggest win of the season 4-3 over top ranked Minnesota Friday night. SCSU led 4-1 entering the 3rd period and freshman goaltender Ryan Faragher had 40 saves in the game and 13 in the final period. SCSU got goals from Ben Hanowski, Cam Reid, Nic Dowd and Jared Festler. Hanowski had 2 assists as well and David Eddy had 3 assists.

SCSU Hockey Plays #1 Gophers

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team will play top ranked Minnesota in a home and home series Friday and Saturday nights. SCSU will host Friday night starting at 7:37pm, pregame on WJON at 7:00. The Gophers will host the game on Saturday night at 7:07, pregame on WJON at 6:30. Minnesota is 10-2 while St. Cloud State is 5-5-2.

SCSU Hockey Falls At MSU-Mankato

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team lost 4-2 at Minnesota State-Mankato Friday night. The game was tied 1-1 after 1 period but Mankato scored 2 2nd period goals and the Huskies couldn't catch up. Brooks Bertsch and Cory Thorson each scored a goal and Ryan Faragher had 34 saves for the Huskies.

SCSU Hockey Swept At Northern Michigan

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team lost 3-2 at Northern Michigan Saturday night and was swept in the weekend series in Marquette, Michigan. SCSU trailed 2-1 after 1 period and were down 3-1 after 2. Joey Holka and Jared Festler each scored a goal for the Huskies and Ryan Faragher had 2o saves in net for SCSU.

St. Cloud State Hockey to Leave WCHA, Join NCHC?

It appears St. Cloud State could be leaving the WCHA and joining the new National Collegiate Hockey Conference. SCSU has scheduled a news conference for 1:00 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) to announce their decision.

WCHA Invites 5 From CCHA

The Western Collegiate Hockey Conference has thrown out an invitation to 5 schools in the CCHA to join the conference starting in 2013-2014. The WCHA has invited Alaska-Fairbanks, Bowling Green, Ferris State, Lake Superior State and Western Michigan. The leaders of the WCHA and CCHA met in Chicago last week and the CCHA has 30 days to decide whether to make the move.

SCSU’s Dunn Signs Pro Contract

Former St. Cloud State goaltender Dan Dunn signed a pro contract with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League. The 6'4 200 pound Dunn finishes his career at SCSU with a 20-15-6 record over 4 seasons. Dunn was a 3rd team all WCHA during the 2009-2010 season.

SCSU Men’s Hockey Sweeps Wisconsin

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Wisconsin with a 7-3 win Saturday night. SCSU stayed alive for a possible bid for home ice advantage in the first round of the WCHA playoffs. The Huskies are 14-15-5 overall and 10-12-4 in the WCHA. Garrett Roe and Aaron Marvin each scored 2 goals for the Huskies and Jared Festler added 3 assists for SCSU.

SCSU Hockey Falls to #2 North Dakota

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team lost at home to #2 North Dakota 3-2 Saturday night. Brett Barta and David Eddy each scored a goal for the Huskies and Mike Lee had 29 saves. Brett Hextall scored the game-winning goal for North Dakota in the 3rd period. UND takes 3 of 4 possible points in the weekend series.
