SCSU Basketball Completes Sweep at MN-Duluth

The St. Cloud State basketball teams both won at Minnesota-Duluth Saturday night. The SCSU women won 65-59 before the Husky men pounded the Bulldogs 89-54. The Huskies led 48-29 at halftime and Brett Putz led the Huskies with 26 points and Shaun Jensen added 13 points for SCSU. The SCSU men improve to 13-2 overall and 9-2 in the NSIC.

SCSU Basketball Teams Fall at Winona State

The St. Cloud State men's and women's basketball teams lost at Winona State Sunday. The SCSU men lost 87-77 to #10 Winona State before the SCSU women fell 58-40. Tim Bergstrasser and Shaun Jensen each scored 16 points for the Huskies.

SCSU Basketball Completes Sweep Of Upper Iowa

The St. Cloud State men's and women's basketball teams both won at Upper Iowa Saturday. The SCSU women won 73-70 before the SCSU men won 74-68 in overtime. The St. Cloud State men have won 5 straight games. Shaun Jensen led the Huskies with 15 points and both Connor Niehaus and Tim Bergstrasser added 12 points apiece. SCSU improves to 11-1 overall and 7-1 in the NSIC.

SCSU Men’s Basketball Win; Women Lose

The St. Cloud State men's basketball team defeated Wayne State 64-47 after the SCSU women's basketball team suffered a tough 59-50 loss to #8 Wayne State at Halenbeck Hall Tuesday night. The SCSU shot 40 percent from the field while holding Wayne State to 29 percent. Tim Bergstrasser led the Huskies with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Connor Niehaus added 11 points for the Huskies.

SCSU Men’s Upset #22 Augustana; SCSU Women Lose

The St. Cloud State men's basketball team upset #22 Augustana 86-61 at home Monday night after the SCSU women lost 77-60 to Augustana at Halenbeck Hall. Shaun Jensen led the SCSU women with 18 points and 7 assists and Connor Niehaus added 16 points. The Huskies shot 59 percent from the field while Augustana shot 40 percent.

SCSU Basketball Sweep Concordia-St. Paul

The St. Cloud State men's and women's basketball teams swept Concordia-St. Paul in St. Paul Saturday afternoon. The SCSU women won 68-45 before the men won 84-73. The SCSU women were led by Amanda Wagner with 19 points. St. Cloud State is 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the NSIC.

SCSU Basketball Split at Mankato

The St. Cloud State basketball teams split a pair of games at Minnesota State-Mankato Saturday. The SCSU men downed Mankato 77-75 after the SCSU women lost 60-46 to the Mavericks. Shaun Jensen made two key baskets down the stretch and Brett Putz made a pair of free throws allowing the Huskies to come away with the win. Jensen led the Huskies with 17 points and Putz chipped in 15 including reaching a milestone with 200 career made 3-point baskets. The SCSU men are 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the NSIC.

NSIC Splitting To Two Divisions In Basketball

Starting in 2012-2013 the NSIC will split into 2 separate divisions for men's and women's basketball. The decision came at the NSIC meetings held at the Kelly Inn in St. Cloud this week. The North Division will consist of St. Cloud State, Bemidji State, MN-Crookston, MN-Duluth, MSU-Moorhead, Minot State and Northern State.

SCSU’s Witt Gets Honor; Baseball Ranked #10

St. Cloud State senior guard Taylor Witt has been named to the 2011 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Central District first team. This is the 2nd straight year that Witt has earned the NABC honor. Witt led the Huskies in scoring averaging 20.1 points a game in 2010-2011.

SCSU Men’s Basketball Upsets Augustana

The St. Cloud State men's basketball team upset Augustana 79-73 Wednesday night in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in the quarterfinals of the NSIC tournament. SCSU was led by Taylor Witt with 39 points and Josh Ortmann added 13 points. The Huskies improve to 14-13 this season and will play 2nd seeded University of Mary at Concordia-St. Paul at 7:30pm Saturday in the NSIC tournament semifinals.
