Sauk Rapids City Council Votes to Join Regional Human Rights Office

Sauk Rapids is the latest metro area city to join the Regional Human Rights Office. The city council voted four-to-one tonight (Monday) to take St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis up on his offer to join at no cost to the city for the next 30 months.

The St. Cloud Regional Human Rights Office has been busy taking calls and educating employers and landlords on discrimination issues since it opened in September. Richard Cousin is the Department of Human Rights Enforcement Officer in St. Cloud. He says he handles 10-12 phone calls per week and has sent out approximately 20-30 questionnaires to people who feel they are the victim of discrimination.
