Regular daily air service is returning to the St. Cloud Regional Airport. Local leaders announced today (Monday) they've reached an agreement with United to provide twice-daily flights to-and-from Chicago's O'Hare Airport on Skywest Airlines.
The St. Cloud Regional Airport is adding a new destination. In a news release today (Wednesday), the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation says the airport will add an additional leisure service destination.
Federal legislation to end furloughs of air traffic controllers, is also expected to help keep the control tower open in St. Cloud. The U.S. Senate acted quickly this week when the furloughs caused travel delays for millions.
Minnesota's two U.S. Senators signed on to legislation today (Tuesday) that would keep the air traffic control tower open in St. Cloud. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken joined 16 other senators for the bipartisan "Protect Our Skies Act".
