It was back on a warm summer day in August that Allegiant Airlines announced plans to offer regular flights between St. Cloud and Mesa, Arizona. This Saturday at 5:05 p.m. that first plane full of central Minnesotans will take off to the warm destination.
A representative for Allegiant Airlines was at the St. Cloud Regional Airport this (Thursday) afternoon. Eric Fletcher is the Manager of Airport Planning. He says the company is excited about the soon-to-launch regular service between the St. Cloud Regional Airport at the Phoenix/Mesa Gateway Airport.
St. Cloud has apparently landed an airline. The Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation has scheduled a news conference for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the St. Cloud Regional Airport to make the official announcement.
The St. Cloud Regional Airport is another step closer to attracting an airline back to the airport. 160 companies have pledged over $3.3 million in travel commitments for direct flights from St. Cloud to Chicago O'Hare.
