The final step has been taken to create a new St. Cloud Aquatic And Community Center. The city council approved the bid, and awarded the project, to Gohman Construction during their meeting tonight (Monday).

St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis and St. Cloud Y Executive Director Greg Gack stood at the site of the future St. Cloud Aquatic and Community Center this (Wednesday) morning to announce the fundraising portion of the project is done.

Another fundraising deadline has come and gone for the planned St. Cloud Aquatic and Community Center. The Y was hoping to collect the final $1 million needed to break ground by this past Monday. That's after missing the original deadline of the middle of October.

The St. Cloud Area Family Y is still $1 million away from it's fundraising goal for the planned Aquatic and Community Center. Executive Director Greg Gack says they're seeking 300 "Community Closers" to can step up by November 9th and commit to donating at least $1,000 each of the next three years.

A partnership between the city of St. Cloud and the YMCA to build a new Aquatic and Community Center is official. The city council tonight (Monday) approved two agreements; one is the Development Agreement to design and build it jointly. The other is the Operations Agreement, which includes a 20-year lease for the Y, with the city responsible for maintaining the exterior of the facility.

Members of the St. Cloud City Council continue to have concerns about the plan for the Aquatic and Community Center. The council discussed the design and budget during a work study session this (Monday) evening.

The planned St. Cloud Aquatic and Community Center continues to take shape. The projected cost for the 100,000 square foot building is just under $25 million, which is down from the original estimate of $27 million.
