The Dayton administration is proposing an update to
Minnesota's Renewable Energy Standard that would require the state to get 50
percent of its energy from renewable sources such as wind and solar by 2030
St. Joseph is expected to approve a final service agreement on Monday night to subscribe for a community solar garden. The city is being asked by SunShare to provide energy on a subscription basis. They would build the solar gardens and parter with Xcel Energy.
Sartell officials continue to look at the idea of adding a solar garden. Early this evening (Monday) the city council unanimously approved a land lease agreement with SolarStone, with city owned property for the site of the solar garden.
State energy officials are joining with power companies to try to derail a proposed $250 million solar energy project in Minnesota. Edina-based Geronimo Energy plans to build about 20 large solar power arrays to meet future electricity needs of Xcel Energy customers.
