Plans for a new field house in Sauk Rapids continue to slowly take shape. The "Sauk Rapids Community Center Advocates" made a formal presentation to the city council tonight (Monday). The council didn't commit to anything, but instructed the committee to continue to work on the project.

The Sauk Rapids city council wants to start cleaning-up problem properties around town. The council held a public hearing on the issue during tonight's (Tuesday) meeting. Several people spoke both for-and-against a new ordinance that will regulate buildings and vehicles on private property.

The developers of a planned Sauk Rapids apartment complex have found a new location. Kuepers Incorporated now have their sites on an area along 10th Avenue Northeast, just to the south of Fairview Gardens. The city council rejected their previous plan in the Villages of Creekside neighborhood after residents there voiced their objections.

The residents of an up-and-coming Sauk Rapids neighborhood have spoken, and the city council heard their concerns. The council denied a request this (Monday) evening to amend the Planned Unit Development for the "Villages of Creekside", which would have allowed for two apartment buildings to be built.

A new bar and grill is being planned for Sauk Rapids. Small Batch Restaurants LLC has signed a purchase agreement to buy the former JP's Grill and Bar. They are changing the name to "Spike Road Bar and Grill".

The Sauk Rapids city council has approved an ordinance change that will allow two new cell phone towers. Back in March the city council put a moratorium on any new towers, until staff could take a look at the issue more closely.

The plan to bring a brewery to downtown Sauk Rapids took another step toward reality this (Monday) evening. The city council approved giving the land to the Sauk Rapids HRA, which will in turn sell it to the future owner of the brewery.
