The High School Football regular season comes to a close tonight throughout the area. The matchups include Rocori (4-3) at Tech (3-4) at Husky Stadium at SCSU at 7pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 6:45. Both teams have lost 3 games in a row. Rocori is playing without starting quarterback Mac Mueller who is out with a separated shoulder. Junior Brad Fabel has been starting in place of Mueller.
Week 6 of the High School Football season is tonight. The games on the schedule include Sartell-St. Stephen (4-1) at Tech (3-2) at St. Cloud State's Husky Stadium. The winner of this game will likely be the #2 seed in Section 85A behind top seeded Moorhead. Tech lost 48-40 at home against Moorhead last Friday. Sartell was ranked #10 in the State in Class 5A last week before losing to Fergus Falls.
Rocori quarterback Mac Mueller is lost for the season for Rocori. Mueller separated his shoulder when tackled on a punt return against Sauk Rapids-Rice Saturday during Rocori's homecoming game. Mueller was the leading rusher and passer for Rocori this season and is a devastating loss for Rocori.
The Rocori football team won their first state football championship in school history when they beat Bemidji 17-10 Saturday at the Metrodome to win the Class 4A State title. Nate Meyer threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Christian Pedroza in the first half and finished with 58 yards passing and he ran for 46 yards.
The Rocori football team plays Bemidji Saturday at 3pm in the Class 4A State Championship game at the Prep Bowl at the Metrodome, pregame on WJON at 2:45 with Ty James and Chris Chapman. Rocori head football coach Mike Rowe is excited about playing the state championship but is confident in their defense despite facing a very dangerous Bemidji offense.
The Rocori football team defeated Hill Murray 37-35 in the Class 4A State Semifinals at the Metrodome Saturday afternoon. Rocori led 20-14 at halftime and led 37-21 in the 4th quarter before Hill Murray close the scored to 37-35 with 4:04 left. Nate Meyer threw for 216 yards and 3 touchdowns and he ran for 101 yards for the Spartans. Mac Mueller had 3 catches for 74 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 26 yards and another score.
The Rocori football team will play in the Metrodome in the Class 4A State semifinals against Hill Murray Saturday at 12:45pm, pregame on WJON at 12:35. The Spartans are 10-1 and are coming off a win over Rogers while Hill Murray is 9-2 and is coming off a win over Faribault.
Rocori downed Rogers 17-6 in the Class 4A State tournament quarterfinals at St. Cloud State's Husky Stadium Thursday night. The Spartans led 7-0 at halftime and held in the 2nd half. Nate Meyer threw for 156 yards and a touchdown and ran 19 times for 70 yards and another score for Rocori.
