Soaking rains followed by snow prevented Minnesota farmers from getting much final fieldwork done last week. In its final crop progress and condition report of the year for Minnesota, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said Monday that only 2.2. days were suitable for fieldwork last week.

We had record rainfall in St. Cloud yesterday (Tuesday). We officially had 1.04 inches at the airport. That brings our two day total of 1.54 inches.

Officially here in St. Cloud we collected .84 of an inch of rain at the St. Cloud Regional Airport on Friday. We're still a little more than a half inch below normal for the month of October. And, we're more than 1 3/4 of an inch below normal since September 1st.

The recent rainfall this past week has been a good thing for central Minnesota farmers. University of Minnesota Extension educator Dan Martens says there is a lot of good looking crops around the state, which should help around harvest time.

A threat of severe weather made its way to the St. Cloud area but quickly dissipated. The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of southeastern Stearns County, Meeker County and Western Wright County just after 10:30 p.m.
