The National Weather Service says severe Thunderstorms are expected to develop later today (Tuesday). There is a threat for heavy rainfall with the storms. 1 to 2 inches of rain seems quite likely in some locations.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for much of central Minnesota -- including Stearns, Sherburne and Benton Counties. It will be in effect from late tonight (Wednesday) through Thursday afternoon.
Wind speeds may have reached 90 miles an hour as a powerful storm swept through Sauk Centre on Sunday night. The National Weather Service says the power went out at the airport just before an official wind speed could be clocked.

A warm front lifting north across the area today (Thursday) will bring with it a return to more summer-like temperatures. Widely scattered thunderstorms will move across the area this afternoon, with a small chance for severe weather overnight across parts of central Minnesota as activity moves out of the Dakotas and into northwest Minnesota.
