The National Weather Service has confirmed the first tornado of the season in Minnesota. An EF-1 tornado with speeds of near 90 mph touched down Tuesday evening in the St. Michael area, northwest of Minneapolis.
Thunderstorms rumbled through parts of our listening area on Tuesday evening. The first storms started to pop up around 6:30 p.m. There were reports of golf ball size hail in parts of Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Morrison, Todd and other counties. There were also reports of winds up to 60 miles an hour.
Rain will mix with and change to snow over the rest of the area during the evening. Accumulations could reach around thee inches north of a line from St. Cloud to Cambridge, with lesser amounts elsewhere.
