Health Department Says Flu Is Widespread

The Minnesota Department of Health says the flu season is entering its peak here in the state. State Epidemiologist Dr. Ruth Lynfield says there have been more reports of flu outbreaks in the last week and it is now considered widespread.

New Data Mixed On Health Of Minnesota Kids’ Teeth

The Minnesota Department of Health has screened the oral health of a random group of third graders for the first time, and found mixed results. The department reports that nearly two-thirds of the state's third graders have protective dental sealants on their teeth, far higher than the national average of 23 percent.

2 Flu Deaths Reported In Minnesota

Two more flu deaths have been reported in Minnesota this season. The Minnesota Department of Health reports one person died in the last week of December and another in the second week of January. Their names were not released.

St. Cloud Nursing Home Death Blamed On Poor Training

The Minnesota Department of Health blames poor training and supervision for the death of a resident at a St. Cloud nursing home. The resident slipped out of a mechanical lift at St. Benedict's Senior Community last June and hit her head on the floor.
