The third installment of a five piece oil painting set will be unveiled at Camp Ripley tomorrow (Saturday). The 8-foot-by-10-foot painting, which will honor the Coast Guard, will be permanently displayed in Committal Hall at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, next to Camp Ripley.
Priceless military medals and burial flag from a northern Minnesota World War II veteran have been stolen from his family. Terry Vangen fought in the Battle of the Bulge and escaped from a prison war camp. He also served in the Korean War before retiring as an Army colonel.
