Thousands of people visited the Metrodome during an open house over the weekend and the first 3,000 fans received apiece of the former Metrodome roof that collapsed last year. The open house also gave those in attendance a glimpse of the new Metrodome roof.
Work begins Thursday on replacing the Metrodome's roof, which collapsed after a snowstorm last December. Crews with Birdair Inc., the New York contractor hired by the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission for the job, will spread a protective tarp over the playing field.
