Vikes’ Frazier is Concerned About Simpson’s Health

Viking head coach Leslie Frazier spoke to the media today and expressed concern over Jerome Simpson's pregame injury to his ankle and that they will do a MRI today to determine the severity of it. He suggested that the injury may have effected his back and legs. Simpson played sparingly Sunday against Tennessee and didn't record a catch.

He says he understands the reasons for it and knows he needs to be patient with his recovery. Viking head coach Leslie Frazier officially announced the decision Tuesday that Peterson will not play in the remaining 2 preseason games despite the progress he has made in his recovery.

Viking General Manager Rick Spielman says the team has no interest in trading receiver Percy Harvin despite his reported request for trade on Wednesday morning. Harvin reportedly requested a trade this week from the team for unspecified reasons. Harvin tweeted Wednesday night that the reason isn't money related. Harvin attended the Vikings walk through practice on Wednesday morning but wasn't at the longer Wednesday afternoon practice.

Viking head coach Leslie Frazier acknowledged Monday that he should have challenged the 3rd and goal play involving Percy Harvin Sunday against Atlanta. Harvin was ruled down at the 1-yard line but he thought he had scored. On the 4th and goal play Toby Gerhart was stuffed at the 1 and Minnesota failed to score.

Viking head coach Leslie Frazier announced today that rookie Christian Ponder will be the starting quarterback for the rest of the season including Sunday's game at home against Green Bay.
