Two teenage boys from Albany have admitted to starting the fire that damaged a bridge on the Lake Wobegon Trail over the weekend.

A fire that burned a bridge on the Lake Wobegon Trail was intentionally started. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office and the Stearns County Sheriff's Office say the fire was caused by arson.

Bikers and walkers near Avon will not be able to use a portion of the Lake Wobegon Trail after a fire last (Saturday) night. The incident happened at about 6:00 p.m. at the Lake Wobegon Trail bridge at Schwinghammer Lake, east of Albany.

Stearns County is asking for approximately $1,000,000 in state bonding money to extend the Lake Wobegon Trail.

Cost to build a small section of the Lake Wobegon Trail in Waite Park are higher than expected. The project, which will extend the trail along River's Edge Park in Waite Park, is about 80 percent more than the estimated $141,923.

A portion of the Lake Wobegon Trail one mile west of Melrose is closed after heavy rains caved in a culvert. Trail users looking to use the portion of the trail will be re-routed for two miles onto adjacent county roads.

Runners should enjoy good conditions tomorrow (Saturday) as they take part in the annual Lake Wobegon Trail Marathon.
