The Twins optioned outfielder Matt Carson to triple-A Rochester after the game Thursday and called up righthanded relief pitcher Kyle Waldrop from triple-A Rochester. Waldrop has a 3.34 ERA in 24 games for Rochester this season. Carson was 8-21 batting .381 for the Twins with 1 RBI in 5 games this season.

The Twins activated closer Matt Capps from the 15-day disabled list Thursday and optioned relief pitcher Kyle Waldrop to triple-A Rochester. Capps has been rehabbing shoulder inflamation at single-A Fort Myers and triple-A Rochester.

The Twins are expected to call up righthander Kyle Waldrop from triple-A Rochester. Waldrop is a 2004 1st round pick who has a 1.26 ERA in 14 1/3 innings at triple-A in 9 games. Relief pitcher Jeff Manship has been optioned to triple-A Rochester. Manship has a 10.97 ERA in 10 2/3 innings for the Twins this season.
