The Kansas City Royals have signed free agent lefthanded pitcher Jose Mijares to a 1-year contract worth $925 thousand. Mijares was not offered salary arbitration by the Twins allowing him to become a free agent. Mijares was 0-2 with a 4.59 ERA in 49 innings for the Twins in 2011.
