Orioles Complete Sweep Of Twins; Home Opener Today

The Twins lost 3-1 at Baltimore Sunday as the Orioles completed the sweep of Minnesota. Jason Hammel took a no-hitter into the 8th inning before Justin Morneau's double broke-up the no-hitter to lead off the 8th inning. Josh Willingham doubled Morneau in to scored the lone Twins' run. Anthony Swarzak threw 5 innings with 1 earned run allowed to take the loss. Swarzak started in place of Liam Hendriks. Hendriks couldn't pitch because of food poisioning.

Tampa Bay Beats Twins 6-2; Marquis Returns

The Twins lost 6-2 in exhibition play to Tampa Bay in Fort Myers, Florida Tuesday afternoon. Josh Willingham went 2-3 with 1 RBI and Justin Morneau had a RBI double for the Twins. Liam Hendriks started the game for Minnesota and threw 5 1/3 innings with 9 hits and 4 earned runs allowed to take the loss.

The Twins indicated on their website that Justin Morneau continues to see time at designated hitter instead of first base to reduce the wear and tear on Morneau's body. Justin Morneau has a history of concussions and his doctors told him that he's more likely to get a concussion if he is worn down. The Twins arn't taking any chances by putting Morneau in the field over the past 2 weeks.

Pitchers and catchers report to spring training in Fort Myers, Florida Saturday with the full squad required to report by Thursday February 23. Twins General Manager Terry Ryan says first baseman Justin Morneau and catcher Joe Mauer are both healthy.
