The Minnesota Vikings have released wide receiver Jerome Simpson. The move was made Thursday, following the revelation of misdemeanor charges of driving on a limited driver's license, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, and having an open bottle in a motor vehicle for Simpson from a July citation. Police in Bloomington, confirmed the charges.

The Minnesota Vikings are expecting wide receiver Jerome Simpson to play this week, despite facing a drunken-driving charge. Simpson was charged Wednesday with third-degree DWI for refusing to submit to a chemical test, a gross misdemeanor, and a fourth-degree DWI for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor.

The Vikings got some good news on receiver Jerome Simpson Wednesday and he's now expected to play at Washington Sunday. Simpson doesn't need surgery for the back problem that caused weakness and numbness in his lower left leg. He played sparingly against Tennessee because of the injury on Sunday. Viking head coach Leslie Frazier says "all indications are" that Simpson will be fine to face Washington Sunday.

Simpson will have to sit out the first 3 games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy while a member of the Bengals. Simpson was a 2nd round pick by the Bengals in 2008. He had 50 catches for 725 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2011.
