Gov. Mark Dayton has released 2010 income tax returns which show he made $671,724 last year. Dayton's office released his state and federal returns Tuesday.
A new report by the state Revenue Department says wealthy Minnesotans pay a smaller share of their incomes in state and local taxes. The 10 percent of Minnesotans who earn more than $130,000 annually paid an average of about 10 percent of their incomes in taxes in 2008, the latest year for which the data was available.
Minnesota House Republicans have outlined a series of income tax cuts, which Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton says would disproportionately benefit top earners.The House plan would lower two of Minnesota's three tax rates by a faction of a percent each, phasing the reductions in over three years.
