As area kids go into their Christmas break, many of them are anxious to get out on the skating rinks. However, they're going to have to wait just a little bit. St. Cloud Park and Rec spokesman Chris Zabinski says they flooded some rinks today (Friday), including the hockey rink at Schmidt Park and both the skating rink and hockey rink at Rotary West Park.
Winter doesn't officially begin until Friday, but its starting to feel like winter. With a little help from Mother Nature winter activities are in full swing.
Here's a benefit from our cold weather this week, The St. Cloud Park and Recreation Department has announced all neighborhood skating rinks are now open.
St. Cloud Park and Recreation officials are announcing that Lake George is ready for ice skating. Warming house hours will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
St. Cloud Park and Recreation officials want to alert you to thin ice that has developed on Lake George. So, until further notice, there is no ice skating allowed on the lake.
St. Cloud warming houses remain closed this season, but City Parks and Recreation Director Scott Zlotnik says they are maintaining the ice skating rinks.
