A cigarette butt is believed to be the cause of a grass fire in St. Wendel Township. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says the fire was reported at about 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday at 7875 360th Street.

Gov. Mark Dayton is authorizing the Minnesota National Guard to help fight wildfires in the state.

Several hundred acres were burned in a grass fire in Farming Township, south of Albany, yesterday (Sunday). Albany Fire Chief Gary Winkels says no structures were burned.

State transportation officials closed I-94 at Stearns County Road 75 yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon while fire crews battled a fire. Several area fire departments were battling a grass fire along Interstate 94 between Stearns County Road 75 and Highway 15.

Fire crews responded to a grass fire over the weekend. The St. Cloud fire department was assisted by the St. Augusta and Waite Park fire departments to put out a grass fire on Saturday night.

The Kimball fire department was called to a grass fire at Highway 15 and Dellwood Road in Maine Prairie Township at about noon on Saturday. They were able to put out the fire in about 15 minutes.
