March 21, 2013 A Minnesota lawmaker wants to make sure the Minnesota-North Dakota men's college hockey rivalry continues after the Gophers leave the WCHA. Rep. Ryan Winkler, D-Golden Valley, introduced a bill Thursday that would pay the University of Minnesota $800,000 in any year that Minnesota plays North Dakota at least once.
April 6, 2012 The Gopher men's hockey team lost 6-1 to Boston College Thursday night in the Frozen Four National Semifinals in Tampa, Florida. Minnesota trailed 1-0 after the first period and were down 4-0 after 2. The Gophers got as close as 4-1 before Boston College scored 2 more goals to put the game out of reach.
January 27, 2012 The St. Cloud State vs. the Gophers rivalry continues Friday and Saturday. The two teams play at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis Friday night at 7:07 and again at 7:07pm in St. Cloud at the National Hockey Center Saturday night. SCSU is 7-8-3 overall and 10-12-4 overall. Minnesota leads the WCHA standings with a 13-5 WCHA record and overall mark of 17-9-1 overall.
