Trevone Boykin and his buddies at TCU have grown tired of hearing about last season. The second-ranked Horned Frogs, with their highest preseason ranking ever, finally get to start fresh. They get an early opener at Minnesota on Thursday night.

It's been a long time since the Gopher football team has had possession of the traveling trophy the "Little Brown Jug" and they're ready to show it off. The Brown Jug is coming to the St. Cloud TCF Bank next Tuesday, October 14th. The bank at 200 25th Avenue South will have the trophy on display from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m.

The Gopher football team will play Syracuse Friday night in Houston for the Texas Bowl at 5pm, pregame on WJON at 4pm. The Gophers are 8-4 while Syracuse is 6-6.

The Gopher football team will play Texas Tech Friday night at 8pm in the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Houston, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 7:00. The Gophers are 6-6 while Texas Tech is 7-5. Minnesota hasn't played since November 24.

Gopher football coach Jerry Kill suffered a seizure at halftime of the Gophers football game against Michigan State at TCF Bank Stadium Saturday afternoon. Minnesota lost 26-10 to drop to 6-6.

The Gopher football team lost 26-10 at home to Michigan State Saturday afternoon to close the regular season. Minnesota trailed 13-7 at halftime and got as close as 16-10 in the 2nd half.

The Gopher football team defeated Illinois 17-3 at Illinois Saturday to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2009. Minnesota fell behind 3-0 but tied the game at 3 going into halftime. Donnell Kirkwood ran 28 times for 152 yards and 2 touchdowns for Minnesota and Philip Nelson threw for just 78 yards and ran for 24 yards for the Gophers.

Michigan beat the Gophers 34-13 Saturday to keep the Little Brown Jug on their sideline again. Minnesota scored the first touchdown of the game but trailed 14-7 at halftime. Philip Nelson was 13-29 passing for 142 yards and 1 touchdown with no interceptions and 37 yards rushing. Donnell Kirkwood led the Gophers rushing for 58 yards on 16 carries.

The Gopher football team earned their first Big Ten win of the season with a 44-28 victory at TCF Bank Stadium over Purdue Saturday afternoon. Minnesota jumped on the Boilermakers early and led 34-7 at halftime. Freshman quarterback Philip Nelson made his 2nd college start and threw for 246 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. He also ran for 37 yards.
