Construction of A new downtown St. Cloud parking ramp can finally move forward. The city council approved the bids for the project during tonight's (Monday) meeting. Donlar Construction has bid a Guaranteed Maximum Price of just over $10.3 million. The city has $11.56 million in state bonding money for the project.

Plans for a new downtown St. Cloud parking ramp are moving forward once again, with a new scaled-back design. The St. Cloud City Council got a look at the new designs during their work study session this (Monday) evening.

The St. Cloud City Council will get an update on a re-worked plan for the new 401-stall downtown parking ramp during their work study session on Monday night. The design team at HMA Architects, city staff, and Donlar Construction have removed several features from the original design, in an effort to bring down the cost of the project.

It's back to the drawing board as St. Cloud city staff tries to find a way to shave several million dollars from the planned downtown St. Cloud parking ramp. The City Council rejected all the bids this (Monday) evening after all four came in well over budget. Councilwoman Carol Lewis has an office downtown and says the delay on the project is frustrating.

Work on a new parking ramp in downtown St. Cloud will begin in just a few weeks. One block of 5th Avenue North, between West St. Germain Street ant 1st Street North, will be closed to traffic starting April 1st. St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis says the 400-plus stall parking ramp will be built on the parking lot behind the Mexican Village and will go over 5th Avenue.
