The Vikings welcomed quarterback Donavan McNabb to the practice field for the first time this season as a Viking. Players recently traded for and recently signed as free agents couldn't practice with the team until after the new Collective Bargaining Agreement was ratified and it was yesterday afternoon.

The Vikings hit the practice field today on what is the first day of the new NFL fiscal year. This means all NFL players either traded for or signed as free agents can begin practicing with their respective teams. The players practicing with the Vikings for the first time today at 3pm include quarterback Donavan McNabb, defensive tackle Remi Ayodele, and receiver Bernard Berrian.

The Vikings introduced quarterback Donavan McNabb at a press conference Friday. Minnesota traded for him with Washington earlier this week. McNabb says "I want to win now and I want to win here". He expects to be the starter but says he's willing to work with young quarterbacks Joe Webb and Christian Ponder. McNabb cannot practice with the Viking until the new NFL fiscal year begins August 4.

The Vikings finalized the trade to acquire quarterback Donavan McNabb from Washington in exchange for a 6th round pick in 2012 and a conditional first round pick in 2013. McNabb reportedly agreed to restructure his contract. Terms of the new deal were not disclosed. McNabb was scheduled to make $14 Million this season. The deal is expected to be announced today.
