Don Kelly and former Twin Delmon Young hit back to back homeruns in the first inning to lift the Tigers to the win. The Twins have traded outfielder Delmon Young to the Detroit Tigers for minor league lefthanded pitcher Cole Nelson and a player to be named later. Nelson is a 6'7 235 pound pitching prospect who has pitched at Class A Lakeland and has a record of 5-11 with a 4.87 ERA in 26 appearances.

The Twins defeated the Angels in Anaheim 11-4 Wednesday night. Minnesota knocked out 5 homeruns led by Michael Cuddyer with 2 homeruns and 5 RBIs. Cuddyer broke the 4-all tie in the 5th inning with a grand slam homerun. Delmon Young added 2 homeruns and 3 RBIs for the Twins and both Jason Kubel and Ben Revere each had 3 hits and 2 runs scored.

The Twins activated outfielder Delmon Young from the 15-day disabled list Sunday after the game. Young had been rehabbing a sprained ankle playing rehab games at Triple-A Rochester last week. Young is batting .256 with 2 homeruns and 20 RBIs for the Twins this season.

Twins Place Delmon On DL; Swarzak Called Up

The Twins made some roster moved last night and they include placing outfielder Delmon Young on the 15-day disabled list with a strained oblique. The move is retroactive to April 19. Young is replaced on the active roster by outfielder Rene Tosoni. Tosoni was hitting .286 with 3 homeruns and 16 RBIs at triple-A Rochester.

Twins Sign Delmon Young To 1-Year Deal

The Twins signed leftfielder Delmon Young to a 1-year $5.4 Million contract Wednesday to avoid salary arbitration. Young batted .298 with 21 homeruns and 112 RBIs in 2010 for the Twins. Young is 24 years old. Pitchers and catchers need to report to spring training today with the first workouts scheduled for Friday.
