The city of Sartell will declare a vacancy on the city council tonight and will then appoint someone to fill that seat. Current councilman David Peterson is being deployed overseas as part of his duties as a Minnesota National Guard member. Peterson will be gone for up to a year leaving his spot on the council in need of a fill-in.

The deadline to apply for a city council seat left vacant with the deployment of City Councilman David Peterson ended Monday. City Administrator Patti Gartland says a total of five people have submitted letters of interest.
