Cold Spring, Richmond Planning for Tom Decker Highway Sings [AUDIO]

Gov. Mark Dayton is signing a bill to rename 11 miles of State Highway 23 after slain Cold Spring police officer Tom Decker. Cold Spring City Administrator Paul Hetland says the bill renames Highway 23 for Decker from the eastern edge of Wakefield Township to the western edge of Richmond.

UPDATE: Bill Passes House, Senate to name Highway for Officer Tom Decker

The Minnesota Senate has passed a bill to rename a portion of State Highway 23 after slain Cold Spring police officer Tom Decker. The bill passed unanimously by the Senate on Thursday is meant to honor Decker, who was shot and killed on a call in downtown Cold Spring last November.

Law enforcement officers in Dakota County are participating in a basketball tournament to raise funds for the family of a slain Cold Spring police officer. Officer Tom Decker was gunned down Nov. 29 while responding to a call in Cold Spring. The investigation into his shooting is ongoing.

Part of Highway 23 could be renamed for fallen Cold Spring-Richmond Peace Officer Tom Decker. A bill was introduced in both the State House and Senate to rename the stretch of highway from Cold Spring to Richmond the "Officer Tom Decker Memorial Highway".
