Minnesota staged a comeback in the 4th quarter with 10 straight points. Rookie Christian Ponder made his first NFL start and was 13-32 passing for 219 yards and 2 touchdowns with 2 interceptions.

ESPN's Chris Mortenson is reporting that the Vikings will start rookie quarterback Christian Ponder Sunday against Green Bay. Both Ponder and veteran Donovan McNabb were reportedly informed of the decision by head coach Leslie Frazier Tuesday afternoon. Ponder was 9-17 passing for 99 yards Sunday at Chicago. McNabb has led the Vikings to a 1-5 record through the first 6 games.

Viking head coach Leslie Frazier announced Monday that he'll announce Wednesday who his starting quarterback will be this week against Green Bay. The decision comes down to veteran Donovan McNabb or rookie Christian Ponder. Ponder relieved McNabb Sunday night and was 9-17 passing for 99 yards.
Bears Rout Vikings; Ponder Plays
The Vikings lost 39-10 at Chicago Sunday night to fall to 1-5 on the season. Devin Hester made a pair of big plays for the Bears. He had a 48-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter and added a 98-yard kickoff return touchdown in the 2nd half. Jay Cutler threw for 267 yards and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions.

The Vikings have signed linebacker Chad Greenway to a 5-year contract extension worth $41 Million with $20 Million guaranteed. Greenway has led the Vikings in tackles each of the last 3 seasons. He was scheduled to make $10.1 Million this season after the Vikings used the franchise tag on him.
Vikings Win Final Preseason Game
The Vikings closed the preseason Thursday night with a 28-0 win over the Houston Texans at Mall of America Field. Rookie Christian Ponder got the start at quarterback and was 10-16 passing for 83 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 61 yards on 8 attempts. Joe Webb played the 2nd half and was 5-6 passing for 43 yards with 12 yards rushing. Caleb King ran for 62 yards and 2 touchdowns for Minnesota.
