Vikings Break Camp In Mankato; Host Bills Friday

The Vikings broke camp in Mankato Wednesday and will host Buffalo Friday night in their 2nd preseason game at 7pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 5:00. The Vikings were at camp in Mankato since July 26 and will now resume training camp activities at their Winter Park facility in Eden Prairie.

49ers Beats Vikings 17-6 In Preseason Opener

The Vikings lost 17-6 in their preseason opener Friday night. Christian Ponder engineered both scoring drives that led to two field goals in the first quarter from rookie Blair Walsh. Ponder was 4-10 passing for 80 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. Joe Webb was less impressive passing throwing for just 20 yards on 4-11 passing. McLeod Bethel-Thompson was the 3rd quarterback and he was 3-7 passing for 49 yards in the 4th quarter.

Vikings At San Francsico Tonight

The Vikings begin the preseason schedule at San Francisco tonight at 8pm (Central Time). The game will be televised on the CW network. The Vikings are expected to play their starters the first quarter including quarterback Christian Ponder. Toby Gerhart will start at running back with Adrian Peterson staying in Minnesota recovering from left knee surgery.

Vikings Start OTA At Winter Park

The Minnesota Vikings began organized team activities at Winter Park in Eden Prairie Wednesday. Starting quarterback Christian Ponder attended the event all with the newly drafted rookies and free agent signees and some veterans. Among the free agents trying to make the team are receiver Marcus Fitzgerald, the younger brother of Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals. Marcus Fitzgerald playing college football at Marshall University.

Ponder Passes Concussion Test; Will Start

Viking quarterback Christian Ponder passed his concussion tests Wednesday and practiced in full and is expected to start at quarterback for the Vikings Sunday against Chicago. Ponder suffered a concussion and was removed from the game Saturday at Washington. He said he experienced a headache Saturday night but felt fine Sunday and Monday was cleared to practice Wednesday.

Saints Rout Vikings 42-20

The Vikings lost 42-20 to New Orleans Sunday afternoon to fall to 2-12 on the season. The Saints piled up 573 yards of total offense compared to 207 yards for the Vikings. Drew Brees threw for 412 yards and 5 touchdowns for New Orleans. Christian Ponder was 14-31 passing for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception. Adrian Peterson ran 10 times for 60 yards after missing 3 games with a high ankle sprain in his left ankle.

Peterson Says He’ll Play Sunday

Viking running back Adrian Peterson says he'll play Sunday when the Vikings host New Orleans Sunday at noon, pregame on WJON at 11am. Peterson has missed the last 3 games with a high ankle sprain in his left ankle. He joked Thursday that he's been getting pressured by fans on Twitter who want him back to help their fantasy football teams. Peterson was limited in practice Thursday.

Viking running back Adrian Peterson was a limited participate in practice Wednesday with a high ankle sprain to his left ankle but head coach Leslie Frazier expects Peterson to play Sunday against New Orleans. Peterson has missed the last 3 games with the high ankle sprain.

Lions Beat Vikings 34-28

The Vikings lost 34-28 at Detroit to the Lions Sunday afternoon. Joe Webb fumbled the football on the last play on a first and goal from the Lions 9-yard line and the game ended with the Lions recovering. Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy appeared to grab the facemask of Joe Webb on the final play contributing to the fumble. No flag was thrown.

Ponder, Peterson Both Practice Friday

Viking quarterback Christian Ponder and running back Adrian Peterson both practice on a limited basis Friday and both are listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Detroit. Ponder didn't practice on Wednesday or Thursday while Peterson was limited in practice on both Thursday and Friday after not practicing on Wednesday. If Ponder can't play then Joe Webb will get the start at quarterback. Webb has been taking the first team snaps. Toby Gerhart will get the majority of the carries if Peterson cannot play.
