Peterson tied Robert Smith with his 29th career 100-yard rushing game. Percy Harvin had 2 carries for 10 yards and 3 catches for 37 yards and 1 touchdown. The Vikings lost 38-26 at Washington to the Redskins Sunday afternoon. Robert Griffin III secured the win by reeling off a 76-yard touchdown run with 2:43 left. The Vikings took a 9-0 lead but trailed 17-9 at halftime. Washington went out to a 30-12 lead before Minnesota mounted a comeback. The Vikings got as close as 30-26 before Griffin scored on the long touchdown run.

The Vikings nearly gave away a game that appeared to be theirs with just seconds left when Blaine Gabbert threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Cecil Shorts with :20 left. Viking quarterback Christian Ponder completed a pair of passes setting up kicker Blair Walsh for a 55-yard field goal. The Vikings host the San Diego Chargers in what's considered a dress rehearsal for the regular season. The starters are expected to play into the 3rd quarter including quarterback Christian Ponder. His one touchdown pass was to Jerome Felton from 1-yard out. Emanuel Arceneaux had 2 catches for 50 yards and Jerome Simpson had 3 catches for 43 yards for Minnesota.
