Twins Outscore White Sox 18-9

The Twins outscored the White Sox 18-9 in Chicago Tuesday night. Minnesota scored 7 runs in the 2nd inning and added 10 runs in the 5th inning. Chris Parmelee hit a 3-run homerun and 4 RBIs, Ryan Doumit was 3-6 with a homerun and 3 RBIs, and Eduardo Escobar had 2 hits, 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs for the Twins. Escobar made his Twins debut after being chosen as a September call-up. The Twins acquire Escobar in the Liriano trade in July.

Twins Outright Gray; Callup Parmelee

The Twins have outrighted relief pitcher Jeff Gray to triple-A Rochester after he passed through waivers and have called up first baseman Chris Parmelee. Gray has a 5.71 ERA in 52 innings for the Twins this season while Parmelee is batting .338 with 17 homeruns and 49 RBIs in 64 games at triple-A Rochester this season.

The Twins lost 7-3 to the Royals in Kansas City Saturday night. The Royals scored 2 runs in the 5th inning to break a 2-all tie. Chris Parmelee was 2-4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI and both Joe Mauer and Jamey Carroll were 1-3 with 1 RBI for Minnesota. Scott Diamond allowed 10 hits and 4 earned runs in 6 innings to take the loss for the Twins and drop to 8-4.

Twins Callup Parmelee, Option DeVries

The Twins called up first baseman Chris Parmelee from triple-A Rochester and sent righthander Cole DeVries to triple-A Rochester to make room for Parmelee. Parmelee was batting .375 with 4 homeruns and 12 RBIs at triple-A. He was hitting .179 in 27 games with the Twins to begin the season. DeVries was 1-1 with a 4.20 ERA in 3 starts for the Twins.

Twins To Activate Morneau From DL

The Twins are expected to activate first baseman Justin Morneau from the 15-day disabled list today in time for him to play tonight at Detroit. Morneau has been on the disabled list for the past 15 days with a sore left wrist. He's been taking batting practice the last couple of days and is reporting no problems. Morneau in 20 games was batting .230 with 4 homeruns and 9 RBIs this season.

The Twins lost 5-1 to Boston in exhibition play Sunday afternoon in Fort Myers, Florida. Carl Pavano allowed 7 hits and 4 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings to take the loss. Chris Parmelee hit a solo homerun accounting for the lone Twins run. Minnesota plays Tampa Bay at Charlotte Sports Park at 12:05 today.

The Twins lost their 11th straight game 5-4 Wednesday night at home against Seattle. Kevin Slowey took a no-hitter into the 6th inning before being hit hard after that. Slowey allowed 6 hits and 5 earned runs in 6 2/3 innings to take the loss and drop to 0-7. Chris Parmelee went 3-4 with 1 RBI, Trevor Plouffe was 3-5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and Michael Cuddyer was 3-5 with a run scored for the Twins.

Mariano Rivera recorded the save for the Yankees and he becomes the all-time saves leader in Major League History with 602. He breaks a tie with Trevor Hoffman. The Twins lost their 5th straight game Tuesday night 3-0 to the Chicago White Sox. Rookie Liam Hendriks from Perth, Australia allowed 4 hits and 3 earned runs in 7 innings to take the loss in his major league debut. Jake Peavy allowed 4 hits and no runs in 6 1/3 innings to get the win for Chicago. Trevor Plouffe and Chris Parmelee were each 2-4 for the Twins.
