Longtime Viking defensive end and Hall of Famer Chris Doleman died at the age of 58 yesterday after a long battle with cancer. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today.
Former Viking defensive end Chris Doleman was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Saturday in Canton, Ohio. Doleman had 150.5 sacks in his career. He played with the Vikings from 1985-1993 and again in 1999. His best season was 1989 when he had 21 sacks for the Vikings. He also played for the Falcons and 49ers in his career.
Former Viking receiver Cris Carter and defensive end Chris Doleman were both named semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Tuesday. Carter had 1,101 career receptions for 13,899 yards and 130 touchdowns in his 16 year NFL career. Carter spend 12 seasons with the Vikings. Doleman spent 15 seasons in the NFL including the first 10 with the Vikings. He recorded 150.5 sacks in his career.
The Pro football Hall of Fame announced its 15 finalists Sunday. Amongst the 15 are 2 former Vikings. The two former Vikings are receiver Cris Carter and defensive end Chris Doleman.
