A judge has refused to delay construction of a major new power line in southeastern North Dakota while an appeal is pending. The line is part of the CapX2020 project, which is intended to bolster the reliability of the electric transmission network that serves many of Minnesota's largest cities.

The CapX2020 Monticello to St. Cloud power line went active today. The 345 Kilovolt transmission line covers 28 miles between the two communities and will improve the service reliability in St. Cloud and Monticello.

MnDOT says you should expect left lane closures on I-94 near Highway 15 south of St. Cloud. Crews are going to be moving barriers as part of the CAPX2020 project. Work is going to start at 9:00 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) and will be completed by 2:00 a.m.

Give yourself extra time if you're driving along I-94 near Clearwater today and tomorrow. Both right-hand lanes are closed just east of Clearwater to install guard structures and a temporary median barrier as part of the CapX2020 power line project.
