For many teens in this area 54 year ago, a concert by many top rock and roll stars like Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Richie Valens was one of the best days of their young lives. And finding out their idols were killed a week later in a plane crash was one of the worst days.

Bobby Vee is known for his music. But, what you may not know is that he's also a pretty good painter. After years of quietly painting purely for enjoyment, he's finally debuting selected pieces of his work.

Pop music icon Bobby Vee is in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. Vee says he was diagnosed more than a year ago, but chose to remain silent until now in order to reflect and concentrate on his music and family.

The great Bobby Vee will be on stage again this year at St. Joseph's Joetown Rocks celebration. A larger than usual crowd is expected to be at the event this year, watching Vee perform one more time before he goes into "Semi retirement".

St. Joseph is getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July again this year. The 6th annual Joetown Rocks outdoor concert starts at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Then, the St.Joseph Parish will celebrate 105 years on Monday.
