Sauk Rapids firefighters battled a barn fire last (Monday) night. Fire Chief Tony Hommerding says strong winds and cold temperatures made for difficult conditions.
About 100 calves were killed in a fire at a Carver County dairy farm. Belle Plaine Fire Chief Todd Otto says the fire was discovered early Tuesday as farm workers went to milk the cows.

Fifty cows died in a barn fire early this (Friday) morning in Stearns County's Spring Hill Township. The Sheriff says the incident happened just after 2:00 a.m. at the Daniel Welle farm. The barn contained about 75 cows, only 20-25 got out safely.
