The direct flights between St. Cloud Regional Airport and Destin, Florida were short-lived. Allegiant Airlines has announced they are discontinuing the route for the remainder of the summer.

It has been about a month now since Allegiant Airlines has offered direct flights between St. Cloud and Destin, Florida.

Allegiant, like most other airlines, are canceling flights.

The St. Cloud Regional Airport is a busier place these days, as central Minnesotans escape the cold for warmer weather. Airport Director Bill Towle was on the News @ Noon Show Thursday.

Allegiant Airlines is hoping to provide you with both a flight, and a home soon enough.

Allegiant Air is adding a fourth weekly flight between St. Cloud and Mesa, Arizona. Beginning January 12th Allegiant will provide flights Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays between the two cities.

St. Cloud Regional Airport posted good passenger numbers in 2015. A total of 31,113 commercial passengers flew in to, or out of St. Cloud on Allegiant Airlines.

A one-year trial period for direct flights between St. Cloud and Chicago ends tomorrow (Friday). United is eliminating the SkyWest flights because it hasn't proven profitable enough to continue them.

Allegiant Airlines is reporting flight delays nationwide while it inspects emergency slides on its MD-80 aircraft, days after 150 passengers and crew members used slides to evacuate one of its planes in Las Vegas.
