Sylvester “Sy” R. Jansky, 93, Sauk Rapids

Sylvester “Sy” Roman Jansky, age 93, Sauk Rapids, MN, formerly of St. Cloud, MN, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Good Shepherd Community, Sauk Rapids, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.

Sy was born October 1, 1921 in St. Cloud, MN to Peter N. and Ottilia (Burggraff) Jansky. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945, participating in campaigns in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. On September 25, 1946 Sy was united in marriage to Dorine A. Mugg at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MN. He was employed by Al Miller Construction, John Miller Auto, Rudy Tank’s Standard Oil for 21 years, and then St. Cloud School District #742 for 19 years. During that time Sy was also employed by Benson Funeral Home. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Cloud VFW Post #428, St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622 and Waite Park American Legion Post #428.

Survivors include his wife, Dorine Jansky of Sauk Rapids, MN; sons, Thomas P. (Suzy) Jansky of St. Cloud, MN; and Robert S. (Renee) Jansky of Sartell, MN; four grandchildren, Ben (Stacy) Jansky, Jenny (Rob) Zimmer, Sarah (Jamie) Lucas and Becky (Corey) Eckstrand; and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Elmer, Peter and Norbert Jansky, and sister, Eleanor Merrill.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
