Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids for Sylvester L. Raymond, age 93, of Sauk Rapids who died Thursday at the St. Cloud Veteran’s Administration Medical Center. Rev. Jerry Dalseth will officiate and burial will be on Tuesday at MN State Veteran’s Cemetery near Little Falls. Friends and family may call two hours prior to the services on Monday at the church in Sauk Rapids. Arrangements were entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home of Sauk Rapids.

Sy was born April 24, 1922 in Graceville to Leo & Laura (Mich) Raymond. He married Bernadine Holden on July 17, 1948 in Alexandria. The couple moved to St. Cloud in 1955 and then resided in Sauk Rapids since 1975. Sy was an Automotive Service Manager for 35 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council # 5548 and Sauk Rapids American Legion Post #254. Sy served his country in the Army Air Force during WWII. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and gardening. Sy was gifted with the ability to fix anything and was a talented woodworker.

Survivors include his children, Beverly (Ray) Billig of Sartell, Mary Bukowski of Sauk Rapids, Kay Haakonson of Sartell, Patrick (Ann) of Port Townsend, WA; sister, LaVerne Day of Champlin; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernadine; son, Michael; son-in-law, Tom Bukowski; brothers, Adelord, Leroy, Marcellus, Cletus; sisters, Virginia Raymond, Rosemary Raymond and Margaret Rowden.

The family wishes to thank all the caregivers that looked after Sy in his later years, Country Manor, Brookdale of Sauk Rapids and the St. Cloud VA Medical Center.
