SOUTH ST. PAUL (AP) - A 30-year-old West St. Paul man has been arrested in a fatal stabbing in South St. Paul.

Officers responded to a report of an assault about 2 a.m. Wednesday and found the victim, an adult male, with stab wounds on his upper torso. Attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

South St. Paul police say the suspect, who's an acquaintance of the victim, was found just a short distance away. He was arrested and taken to the Dakota County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.

The victim's name hasn't been released pending notification of his family.

An investigation is ongoing.
