UNDATED -- The next election is nearly two years away, but the first poll for Minnesota's U.S. Senate race has already been conducted. And, at least for now, Democrat Amy Klobuchar is sitting pretty comfortably.

In head-to-head match-ups with several top state Republicans she holds big leads. The closest hypothetical race would be with Governor Tim Pawlenty, Klobuchar would beat him 53%-43%. The next closest is former U.S. Senator Norm Coleman, but Klobuchar beats him 54%-40%. In this poll from the Public Polling Policy Klobuchar would defeat Congresswoman Michele Bachmann 56%-39%. And Gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer loses to Klobuchar 56%-38%.

The survey was conducted on December 4th and 5th.
