BRAINERD -- Despite the heavy storm damage this past weekend Brainerd International Raceway will continue to host races.

BIR is expected to be ready to host the Central Roadracing Association Superbike Race this Friday through Sunday.

Spokesman Geoff Gorvin says the original 3.1 mile Donnybrooke Road Course will be free of debris and in good shape for this weekends races.

A strong storm Sunday night cause extensive damage to the track, toppled and twisted a section of the bleachers on the dragstrip, ripped the roofs off the press box and main shop, rolled two RVs, blew over signs and knocked down trees.

Gorvin says the bleacher situation will be addressed in the coming weeks and the main grandstand will be tested to ensure it's safe.

All other events on BIR schedule, including the Lucas Oil NHRA National set for August 20-23 will still take place.
