Summertime By George Kicks Off Festivities For 2014 [VIDEO]

ST. CLOUD - Summertime By George got off to a roaring start on its opening night as thousands were expected to attend to kick off the festivities.

Summertime by George is a free concert and festival put on by the Rotary Club of St. Cloud. Once a week through the summer, Lake George is transformed with live music from local bands, local vendors and a kids zone for the family.

Stearns County Attorney Janelle Kendall and The Receders provided the tunes on opening night.

Summertime by George features a new performance stage for the bands this year. Construction for the bandshell started last fall and was completed a day before opening night.

The St. Cloud Rotary Club and City of St. Cloud partnered on the project to provide a permanent structure for the event.

Summertime by George lasts for 12 weeks during the summer through August 27^th. The event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every Wednesday night.
