Students Experience the Dangers of Impaired Driving [AUDIO]
ST. CLOUD -- Students at St. Cloud State University got a little taste of what it's like to drive impaired today (Thursday).
Unite - a Grand Rapids, Michigan organization - is bringing their Arrive Alive Tour to colleges, high schools and military bases around the country.
The group is using a car simulator to show participants what it's like driving distracted or drunk.
Heidie Martinez works for Unite. She says distracted driving is a growing problem for youth.
Organizers say around 100 students participated in the program.
Martinez says driving deaths are very preventable.
Students were given a fake ticket after using the simulator to demonstrate what could happen if they were to drive under the influence.
The program was also sponsored by SCSU's Department of Student Life & Development.
