ST. CLOUD - 40 years ago the Stearns History Museum started its Century Farm Program honoring families with a storied tradition of farming. This year they will be adding a new designation, the 150-year milestone.

The Century Farm program has around 480 members with more joining.

Stearns History Museum Head Archivist Steven Penick says the program helps us remember our agricultural roots in Central Minnesota.

"One of the things I think is really neat about the program is just the sheer amount of pride people have in their lifestyle of working the land and the history of their farms.  They all recognize that they are building onto what the previous generation started."

For families looking to join the program, Penick says the process is easy and not time-consuming.

"We will send you a form where you will cover the generations of the farm.  You will just go back in the history and let us know when the farm passed from {person to person}. We will just check everything over and make sure it lines up with our records."
