ST. CLOUD -- The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is getting two drug-sniffing dogs. Chief Deputy Sheriff Bruce Bechtold says they used to have drug dogs but never replaced them as they retired.

Bechtold says officers are finding more drugs during traffic stops and they find themselves calling other agencies for K-9 help more often.

A business owner recently contacted the sheriff's office about paying for the dogs and the training. A few other businesses also chipped in to pay the $19,000.

The dogs will be out on patrol throughout the county and will be used where needed and also assigned to special patrols.

The Belgian Malinois dogs are expected to arrive in early September.
