Stearns County Man Sentenced in Threats Case

ST. PAUL -- A Stearns County man has been sentenced to prison after plotting to “cause bodily injury” to the fiance’ of his former lover. A federal judge in St. Paul has sentenced 30-year-old Robert Schueller to five years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint the Farming Township man tried to pay someone $10,000 in February 2014 to have the boyfriend killed.

Schueller pleaded guilty May 26th to one count of Threats Transmitted by Interstate Communication.

Records show the married Schueller was having an affair with a fellow employee at Nomad Pipeline Services where Schueller was President. The affair happened between May and August 2013.

After the woman ended the relationship, Schueller allegedly tried to reignite the affair but was rebuffed. He then learned the woman was engaged to be married and asked an employee, who is a convicted felon, whether he still had contact with any inmates who could carry out the plot. The employee said yes, and received a package with $10,000 cash and the name and place of employment where the woman’s fiancee was working.
The employee ultimately called Schueller to say he couldn’t find anyone to carry out the plan and returned the money. Schueller then texted the worker to “burn the business cards” which had the information written on them.

As part of his plea, Schueller admitted trying to recruit several employees to hurt the man in an attempt to break-up the couple. Records show Schueller admitted to paying his sister-in-law $500 to seduce the man. He also posted a Craigslist ad offering $5,000 to a “pretty girl” to “break up the couple by any means necessary”.
