ST. CLOUD -- Longtime Stearns County Administrator George Rindelaub is retiring. The University of Wisconsin-Madison alum has been Stearns County Administrator for 28 years. He announced today (Tuesday), that his last day will be March 31st.

Rindelaub says he's been at this job for a long time and realized the time was right.  He says his wife is retiring at the end of January and he has a long bucket list of things he wants to get started on.

Rindelaub says he plans to travel, possibly take piano lessons, and look into some self-education classes at St. Cloud Technical and Community College.

He says has no plans to be part of the search process for his successor but says his assistant Steve Hammes would do a fine job.  Rindelaub says as the county moves forward, they should take the time to develop a job description for what type of person they want in that role.
